The St Christopher Club.
This is an association of former staff and pupils of St Christopher School, Letchworth.
The Club acts as a forum to keep its members in touch with one another by means of newsletters and reunions. We try to keep in contact with as many former pupils and staff as we can, unless they do not wish to hear from us. We are a group of volunteers whose sole aim is to produce newsletters for subscribers and to help our members to keep in touch with other old scholars. We do not wish to impose ourselves on people, so if you aren't interested in what we do, please ask us not to contact you, and we shall be happy to take you off the list.
We can only afford to mail regularly to subscribers, but we do try to contact everyone - whether they subscribe or not - if their yeargroup are particularly "targeted" for a reunion. We also wrote to everyone we had an address for as the school came towards its centenary in 2015. If you did not hear from us at around that time we would be delighted to have an up to date address for you. These days, of course, most of our correspondence is by email.
The Club was set up in the 1920s as an independent organisation from the school, and all of its committee members donate their time and effort - nobody is paid for any work done for the Club, or draws any expenses. Until recent years we have had an excellent working relationship with the school, and were, for example, invited to hold reunions there. The school now wishes to conduct its own relations with what it is pleased to call its alumni, and has emphasised that the Club does not speak on its behalf, We would like to confirm this, although we are clearly people who have an interest in the history of the school and in those who have contributed to it in decades past, otherwise we wouldn't be spending our time organising what is an informal social club for those who are similarly interested.
The Club's policy on the use of information given to us is here.
The Club has an elected committee of old scholars and former staff, but its day to day running is in the hands of its treasurer and secretary, David Cursons, To contact the Club please e-mail to:
