The Summer Reunion
The Club last held a summer reunion at the School on 6th and 7th July 2019. We had hoped to host another in July 2021, but then came the caution associated with the covid epidemic and various changes in organisation at the School. The School has subsequently rold us that it can no longer host the traditional style of summer reunion which the Club used to offer its members.
In 2023 we tried out an alternative style of event, an informal gathering one Saturday at The Three Horseshoes pub in Willian, which is now owned by an old scholar and is a hostelry which will be familiar to many generations of St Christopher old scholars. Around forty people came for liunch and most stayed on for the rest of the day, a few staying in a local hotel and resuming their mutual reminiscences on the Sunday.
We held the same kind of event in June 2024, and the school bursar was kind enough to offer interested old scholars a tour of the school in the late afternoon. A similar event is taking place in June 2025.
The Committee have looked into other forms of reunion in other places, and any suggestions would always be welcome. It may be that small informal gatherings of former friends may be one of the ways forward, and the Club secretary has already been able to help convenors of such meetings - usually at a local pub - to get the word out to some of the people they have lost touch with. If you would like to convene such a reunion of old friends anywhere in the country, please feel free to contact us to find out how we can help. The Club's main aim is simply keeping people in touch.
